Voice Capture & Day Planning

These exercises cover two of Danny's most powerful features: turning spoken thoughts into organized tasks, and having a conversation with Danny about your workload.

Exercise 3: Brain Dump

Brain dump lets you talk freely into your microphone. Danny transcribes everything you say, pulls out the actionable items, and presents them as tasks you can review before adding.

How to do it

  1. Click the microphone icon in the bottom bar (or the Brain Dump tab on mobile).
  2. A recording overlay appears. Start talking naturally — no need to structure your thoughts.
  3. Speak for up to two minutes. Say things like: "I need to pick up the dry cleaning, and I should probably call mom this weekend. Oh, and the car registration expires next month so I need to renew that. Also, we're out of coffee filters."
  4. Click Stop when you're done.
  5. Danny processes the audio. You'll see a brief loading state while it transcribes and extracts tasks.
  6. A review screen appears showing each extracted task with a toggle switch.

On the review screen

Toggle off any items you don't want, edit titles, then click Add All to send them to your inbox. Each added task goes through AI classification automatically. See Brain Dump for full details on the review screen.

tip

Brain dump works best when you speak in short, concrete phrases. "I need to email the landlord about the broken heater" gives Danny more to work with than "there's that thing with the apartment."

Exercise 4: Chat with Danny

Danny has a built-in chat where you can manage tasks, ask questions, and plan your day using natural language.

How to open it

Click the chat icon in the bottom bar to expand the chat panel. On mobile, tap the Chat tab.

Try these prompts

Start with something simple. Type:

What's on my plate today?

Danny will summarize your tasks for the day, grouped by priority and project. Then try:

Plan my day

Danny will look at your tasks, consider their time estimates and energy levels, and suggest an order to work through them.

Here are more things you can ask:

What you wantExample prompt
Create a task"Add a task: Schedule vet appointment for Thursday"
Mark something done"Mark 'buy groceries' as complete"
Break down a big task"Decompose 'plan birthday party' into subtasks"
Check your calendar"What meetings do I have tomorrow?"
Get a summary"How many tasks are overdue?"
Navigate"Show me my high-priority tasks"

Page context

Danny knows what you're currently looking at, so it scopes responses to the selected task or view. See Chat with Danny for full details.

info

Chat supports voice input too. Click the microphone icon inside the chat input to speak your prompt instead of typing it.
