Gmail
Danny can access your Gmail to search emails, read threads, and create drafts. This is useful when tasks come from email conversations or when you need to follow up on something.
Enable Gmail access
Gmail access is part of the Google connection. When you connect your Google account in Settings > Integrations, you can choose to grant email permissions alongside calendar access.
Danny requests these permissions:

| View labels | Danny can see your folder/label structure to find emails |
Danny never sends emails on your behalf. It only creates drafts that you review and send yourself. You must click Send in Gmail — Danny will never send without your explicit action.
What Danny can do with Gmail
Search and read emails
Ask Danny to find emails in chat:
- "Find the email from Sarah about the project deadline"
- "What did the vendor say in their last message?"
Danny searches your inbox and reads the relevant threads to answer your question.
Create drafts
Danny can write email drafts based on your tasks:
- "Draft a follow-up email to the client about the proposal"
- "Write a reply to that thread"
The draft appears in your Gmail Drafts folder. You review it, make any changes, and send it when ready.
Email-to-task capture address
Every Danny account has a unique capture email address. Forward any email to it and Danny automatically creates a task from the subject and body.
Find your capture address
Go to Settings > Integrations and look for Email Capture. Your personal address is listed there. It looks like:

The hash is unique to your account — no one else can create tasks in your Danny inbox by guessing it.
How to use it
- Forward any email to your capture address
- Danny receives it and creates a task with the email subject as the title
- The email body is stored with the task so you have context
This works for:
- Forwarding actionable emails from your inbox
- Sending yourself a quick note via email
- Connecting other tools that can send email (Zapier, IFTTT, etc.)
Email replies
When Danny sends you a daily digest or other notifications, those emails come from a reply-enabled address. You can reply to those emails directly — Danny routes your reply back to the right conversation or task without you needing to open the app.
Disconnect Gmail
To remove email access, disconnect your Google account in Settings > Integrations. This revokes both calendar and email permissions. You can reconnect and choose different permissions afterward.
